Peanut Gallery is a organizing program of New Georgia Project.

Georgia Peanut Gallery

The Peanut Gallery Coalition is a non-partisan partnership made up of civil rights organizations and people dedicated to ensuring and promoting fair, transparent, and accessible elections for all Georgians. The Peanut Gallery recruits and trains volunteers from across the state to monitor and report activities at local county board of elections meetings to ensure that county officials are accountable to the people. The coalition’s mission is to shed light on the decisions that impact voting and elections in Georgia by collecting and publishing Board of Elections reports and mobilizing advocacy efforts designed to expand, promote, and protect our right to vote.

We do this by utilizing the following guiding principles:

  • Equity: Working to ensure every Georgian has access to the ballot box.
  • Transparency: Exercising the right of every Georgian to know what their local Board of Elections is doing.

  • Advocacy: Empowering Georgians to understand their BOE and speak out against voter suppression.
  • Accessibility: Ensuring voters with disabilities can cast their vote with ease. We hold training for new volunteers on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6pm.

Through volunteer empowerment, community mobilization, and legal action, the Peanut Gallery combats voter suppression where it starts: at the local level.
We organize for a more just, equitable Georgia in which elections are fair and accessible to all. We harness the power of our communities to combat voter suppression in its many forms and work towards a democracy that is truly of, by, and for all of us.
