Get ready to celebrate Pride and Juneteenth with NGP! Our mission is to build power with the New Georgia Majority – Black, brown, young, and LGBTQIA+ Georgians – so we ALL can enjoy more freedom and equity in our communities. That's what Pride and Juneteenth are about, getting more freedom for all – freedom to love, freedom to be, and freedom to build the community we want. Juneteenth is the linguistic combo for June 19th, the day in 1865 when enslaved Black folks got word that they were free from their bondage, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Pride began as a protest against police brutality in NYC. Black and brown transgender and gender non-confirming activists stood up for LGBTQIA+ rights. We fight and celebrate in their legacy today. We have plenty of events to celebrate Juneteenth and Pride this month, be sure to sign up and share with your community!
