“Debt is difficult. It’s depressing, it’s stressful,” says Maggie Bell, Lead Organizer for NGP’s C.L.E.A.R. Campaign and the first in her family to graduate from college.
For Maggie Bell, a 24-year-old organizer from Georgia, student debt relief is a racial justice issue. “Not having student loan debt opens the gates for me to have more opportunities at living life, like capital letters LIVING LIFE,” she said.
C.L.E.A.R. stands for Cancel Loans for Education and Reparations and is a campaign by the New Georgia Project, the state’s largest civic engagement group.
