We Want All the S.M.O.K.E
We Want All the S.M.O.KE stands for Spreading Marijuana Opportunities and Knowledge Everywhere. The S.M.O.K.E. Campaign pushes a collective civic agenda to decriminalize cannabis consumption, expunge the records of those with cannabis related charges, eliminate barriers to entry in Georgia’s medical cannabis industry for Black men, and promote the medicinal benefits of cannabis.
- Georgia is one of only 19 states in the U.S. that still imposes jail time for cannabis possession.
- Georgia is one of 13 states that lacks compassionate medical cannabis laws.
- Even though marijuana possession and usage rates are similar across races, Black people are three times more likely to be arrested for possession than white people in Georgia.
- Our research shows that 77% of registered Georgia voters support marijuana legalization.
Legalizing marijuana in Georgia would end the racist war on drugs in our state and would open up significant entrepreneurial opportunities for Black men to participate in the cannabis industry.
Demands
- Decriminalize and legalize cannabis in Georgia.
- Expunge the records of all cannabis related convictions in Georgia.
- Increase equitable access to Georgia’s medical cannabis industry for Black men.
