(Atlanta, GA) – New Georgia Project Field Director, Elijah Grace, released the following statement regarding the Georgia Supreme Court’s ruling to allow early voting for the U.S. Senate runoff election to begin on Saturday, November 26th.

“I’m thrilled that Saturday early voting is allowed to stand. The voters we talk to every day tell us that they want more access to the ballot box, not less. In fact, in our latest poll of Black voters in Georgia conducted just after the general election, the top reason for not voting in the general election was ‘I could not take off work.’ Giving back a day of early voting, especially on the weekend right after Thanksgiving when college students are home and many folks will be off work, is a much-needed option to ensure Georgians will be able to cast their ballots in this pivotal runoff.

We are updating all of our voting resources to reflect these changes and making sure every voter we talk to knows where, when, and how to vote in their county. We are letting folks know they can always check out ngp.org/earlyvote to find their early voting locations, dates, and hours.

This victory is thanks to the advocacy of grassroots organizations like New Georgia Project and our coalition partners. We will not stop defending and fighting for the voting rights of Georgians, and this most recent win is exactly why we do it.”
