Data Engineer

JOB BRIEF

Reporting to the Director of Data and Targeting, the Data Engineering role will be a 4-6 month full-time engagement. This individual will be responsible for designing and building out our data ecosystem. This will require APIs to multiple systems and ETL to custom table structures in a redshift database. The ideal candidate will have the skills to strategically inform and implement a cohesive data architecture that supports our mission-driven work.

To be successful in this role, you must have a passion for helping expand civic engagement in the growing and diverse electorate in Georgia. You must also have a deep understanding of data pipelines and methods for cleaning, validating and merging disparate data into strategic analytical tables. Ultimately, you should strengthen our ability to get to and analyze all of our campaign data in a single database.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architecture design and development
  • Set up 4+ APIs from native systems to redshift data warehouse
  • Design the transformation structure to take our raw data to actionable analytical data tables
  • Implement ETL processes and set up algorithms and alerting that ensures data is clean and validated before it lands in the database
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for increasing our data security

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
  • At least 4 years experience building APIs and optimizing data pipelines
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and ETL techniques
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field; a Master’s is a plus
  • Data engineering certification is a plus
