Why do you to this work?
Why do I do this work; I do it because it is gratifying. It is very educational and it keeps me abreast of most issues that affect our community. It also makes me aware of how much of an impact a voice can bring. My grandparents would be proud to see me actually participating in something that they fought so hard to do.
How has this work changed you?
This work has changed my whole outlook on life. I can't believe that we are somewhat better than years ago, but how much more needed change is still necessary. After hearing some of the stories about voting rights, it's almost like we are still in the late 60's or early 70's all over again. I am definitely more AWARE!!
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
1) Jesus, for the obvious reasons.
2) My Grandmother. I know how hard she fought racism, survived through the struggles growing up in rural Alabama and Florida back in the 20's, 30's and 40's. Her stories were so fascinating, her demeanor was always about lifting up others despite the persecution she and other family members faced on the regular. I could listen to her all day.
